Hear

We must HEAR the Word

We cannot afford to turn a deaf ear to God. Without hearing God's Word, we wouldn't know that we are sinners and learn what we must do to be saved. But hearing alone isn't enough... We must also Believe.

Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23

Believe

We must BELIEVE what we hear

We must believe what we hear, if we do not, we will not be saved. To refuse to believe is to trust in our own fallible minds. God alone knows all. But believing alone doesn't save us... We must also repent.

John 8:24

Repent

We must REPENT of our sins

We are separated from God because of our sins. Repenting is setting aside our sins and put forth the effort to no longer sin. It is also trusting the Lord to tell us what we need to know and do to please Him. When we truly repent, we turn from sin to God. It's a lifestyle change to be conscious of sin. But we are not saved immediately upon repentance. We must also confess our faith.

Confess

We must CONFESS our faith

The public confession is a pledge of allegiance to God and Christ. Your confession may be simple, such as “I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.” This is what Peter confessed in Matthew 16:16. It is the rock or foundation upon which Jesus built His church. See also Romans 10:9-10 & 1 Timothy 6:11-16.

Baptized

We must be BAPTIZED

God has given us a condition of salvation that perfectly pictures the facts of the gospel. Just as Jesus died for our sins, we must die to our sins. Just as He was buried, we must bury the old man. And just as He was raised from the dead, we must be raised to a new life. All of this takes place when we are immersed in water for the forgiveness of our sins. But, now that we are Christians, and citizens in His kingdom, we must also be faithful.

Faithful

We must remain FAITHFUL

If we do not intend to live sober, righteous and godly lives for Jesus, there is no point to becoming a Christian. As Christians, we have new responsibilities and obligations. We must be zealous of good works and faithful unto death.

We must be SPIRITUALLY MINDED

The Lord's people are a spiritual house, a holy priesthood and are to offer up spiritual sacrifices. These sacrifices are among the many things that set us apart from the world. But what are the spiritual sacrifices we are to offer? While an exhaustive list would be difficult, here are a few.
